Asset Funders Network Goals and Objectives
Goals
The Asset Funders Network is committed to sharing successful initiatives and strategies for increasing ownership of high-return assets and promoting access to the tools and supports needed to build wealth. Our specific goals are to:
- Increase the visibility of asset-building within the philanthropic community
- Advance asset building best practices
- Leverage resources to support asset building activities
- Serve as a conduit for local, regional, and national asset building initiatives
- Integrate asset building into other economic, community, and individual development efforts
- Provide a voice for asset building grantmakers
- Connect financial and intellectual capital to advance the field
- Serve as a resource for funders interested in asset-building work
Annual Objectives
The network holds regular webinars, meetings, and hosts a website, designed to provide its members with the latest asset-building information, strategies and resources.
Provide a forum to discuss strategies, promising practices, and policies.
- Hold an annual membership meeting.
- Participate in philanthropic meetings targeted to the asset-building field.
- Provide a webinar series that presents strategies and information on a diverse array of asset building topics.
- Promote coordination and strategizing among members.
Raise the visibility of asset building strategies within the philanthropic community.
- Develop partnerships and/or working relationships with other asset building networks and groups.
- Reach out to funders interested in asset building strategies.
- Participate in philanthropic forums intended to educate foundation staff about the effectiveness of asset building approaches.
Serve as a resource for funders interested in asset building work.
- Serve as a clearinghouse and link to the latest information from the asset-building field.
- Provide e-newsletters highlighting news, initiatives, policies, and events.
- Maintain a website with up-to-date information and links to important information from the asset-building field.
- Commission funder briefs that highlight strategies, best practices, and initiatives to provide guidance for new funders.
Offer networking opportunities to build funder collaborations.
- Include networking opportunities at all AFN functions.
- Create networking opportunities at other forums/events.
- Join with other groups in asset field (community tax field, NFG, COF, GIST, philanthropy roundtable) - provide content for and/or co-host meetings.
- Create a matrix on who is funding what in the field in order to facilitate funding collaboration.
- Increase philanthropic funding for asset building initiatives.
